Some children dream of being firefighters. Some dream of being ballerinas. Or owning a sweet shop. Or being a Tribal leader.

Why this matters to us

Every child’s dream is a precious gift to the whole community, and we all want to nurture them. And, of course, you’re never too old to have dreams, and you’re never too old to make them a reality. A strong educational foundation, no matter how old you are, provides you with the knowledge you need to start making dreams a reality.

Facts & Overview

Tulalip members have a complex history with education. From our elders being taken to boarding schools, to prejudice in schools outside of Tulalip, our experiences have shaped how we view learning. Now, we have an opportunity to reclaim education on our own terms. Here’s how we can do it together.

When most people think of education, they think of our children, and Tulalip offers educational opportunities for kids as young as 3 years old through the BJTELA preschool program. This support continues through our youth partnership programs like Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA.

But education is a lifelong journey. Supporting young people means embracing learning at every stage of our own lives. At the Northwest Indian College, located right here in Tulalip, you can find classes that fit your interests and goals.

Does Education Only Happen in Class?

Education isn’t limited to traditional classrooms—it’s woven into our everyday lives. Is there something you’re passionate about or curious about right now? Seek out a class, group, or workshop to dive deeper. Not only does this bring us together as a community, but it also models a love of learning for our children and strengthens our ability to guide them as teachers in their own journeys.

Engaging with Tulalip’s Boys and Girls Club, Bədaʔchəlh, and Youth & Family Enrichment programs can provide valuable academic and personal growth opportunities.

And curiosity is one of the best motivators, and one of the best ways to support children’s curiosity is by exploring the world together. Healing yourself, picking up a new language, even playing Wordle shows your child that you’re right there with them!

Tulalip’s Higher Education program offers financial aid guidance, career planning, and scholarship opportunities.

For K-12, students can access tutoring, homework help, and opportunities for extracurricular engagement.

For higher adults, higher education resources are available.

Now there is no one who could catch up with us.

There is something you can do.
Strong community connections are key to addressing this crisis. When neighbors and local groups unite, they create a support network that can identify and help those at risk. Small acts—checking in, sharing resources, offering support—make a real difference. These connections don’t just help in emergencies; they build resilience and prevent addiction from taking root.
